Week 40 for Baby

Your baby is now quite prepared for life outside of the womb. The lungs are still creating surfactant to help keep the air sacs open. Hair and nails continue to grow.
Your baby weighs about 7.5 pounds with a crown-to-rump length is about 21.5 inches.

For Mom:

Only 5% of women give birth on their exact due date, so don’t worry if the day passes by without any signs, you are not overdue until you reach 42 weeks.
With your pregnancy reaching full term, your uterus is the size of a watermelon, following birth it will shrink by up to a third, and eventually back to the size of a fist.
Your baby has grown an amazing amount over the last 9 months and will be in your arms shortly – congratulations!
